front leaves

What would be your suggestion? Move the bracket farther forward? Since its basically a bog truck and not a trail truck im not too concerned with how stiff it will be otherwise I would've gone coil sprung.

your main issue is the way you built your brackets/sas. You probably arent going to find a leaf to do what you want without getting a rediculously stiff/arched springset.

at first i pulled the all of the chev leaves except the 2 longest
and as soon as i dropped it on to its own weight it sagged so low it compressed the shocks all the way (i had no bump stops yet) it was worse than your current situation. i found a happy medium by pulling the overload spring, and one more. what i am saying is that it won't be too hard if he pulls the right amoung of leaves. and the arch shouldn't be too much of an issue because if nothing else it will eliminate his need for that ladder he has hanging from his frame that the fronts of his leaves are attatched to :icon_rofl:

uh.......You ever heard of leaving the top leaf and adding the other to it.

uh....did you even read this post?

I did add leafs i added 2 chevy leafs that were about 4" total shorter than the cherokees, 2" on each end and they stay stiff but the cherokee leafs bend over top of them at those 2 points.

i'm doubting you read it. but don't worry tjdeerslayer i'm at least reading what you post before i reply to it

I read it just fine......the man was asking and he was offered info on what I have done in the past. He can take it or leave it as can you, I don't care either way.
Just cause you have your way of doing things doesn't make them right for me or anyone else. I don't put alot of money in trucks that get taken offroad. I build to suit for myself and make other stuff work the way I want it to.

Seems to me he has shackles on the front of the springs and the back of the springs, thats def gonne keep the spring moving isnt it? SHould the rear of the springs be molted straight into the frame without a shackle and only have a shackle on the front for pivoting and flexing? WOuldnt that give he a better idea of what length spring he needs?

and from what he posted no he doesn't have shackles on both ends of the leaves, just the front, the rear is solid

I wasnt sure, Iw as looking at his picture of his truck, it looked like shackles a tboth ends.

where are you buying parts? tas or parts galore?

hard to get good springs out of there but i usually get em 30-40 a set.

you should be able to go to downriver spring and get new 52's for 250 bux or less.

if you have another set of mains cutting the eyes off and shaping them to directly support your current main should fix you up.

i went to chevy 52's and they do ok on the road...and not too bad off road.

Just curious, but why did you put the shackle in the front. When i did mine, i had the fixed on the front and shackle on the rear. i used 4in chevy 1/2 ton front springs and worked great. pushed it forward about 3in though

whats your ride height and spring angle?

i just put my shackles in the front with 52's as i myself prefer the shackle in the back, but overall ride quality and height things work out better with the shackles in the front.

delicate balance with daily drivers.

it front mount is about 4in higher then the rear. and frame height is 23.5 in

yeah, front chevy springs get me closer and would allow me to easily retain rear shackles, but a bit too short for my weight needs and axle type.

i run a kp 60 and like at least 7 deg caster, i was gonna have some nice springs made and then came to my senses....800 bux for custom leafs isn't what i needed

spose i should quit jackin this thread

i think my frame is 29 with 44 in tires and 27 with the 42's

its under 24 with the 33's
