Ok so my tires are starting to cup real bad. How bad can it be? I knew the boot on the upper ball joint on the drivers side was ripped so I expected it would need replacing. Shocked was the passenger side was cupped worse and couldn't figure out why. Truck is a 02 Ranger XLT 2wd 3l with the coils up front. Suspect the wheel bearings as the wheel can be shook side to side and up and down. Conferred with neighbors Grandson, which lucky for me works on front ends doing alignments, and found out the whole story. Ball joint and wheel bearings on right side, bearing might be repackable and reused but are cheep enough I'm just replacing. Left side has control arm bushings shot.
Here is the list of parts I got so far:
Moog K80054 Left upper control arm assembly
Moog K80052 Right upper control arm assembly
Moog K8771T Lower ball joint, both sides
Timken inner and outer wheel bearings for both sides.
Tie rods were good so I figured why replace them.
Have I got everything covered? Should I be looking at anything else?
I was told that the ball joit and control arm bushings are a common failure on these trucks so If one side is bad you might just as well do both as the other will not be far behind.

Check them there shocks....you don't want all the new stuff bouncing to pieces.....

Good idea. Any recommendations? The truck is general transportation and light hauling.

I recently bought Monroe front shocks.......I didn't want to because of the price----but they were worth it $45 each...aaaarrrggghhhh!

Whatever shocks you buy...buy the middle-grade (not the cheap ones/not the top of the line)....

if you want a smooth ride on the front end.....buy car shocks

(you'll have to match up the ends and the ride length with your truck....Napa has a shock-chart)

for a firm ride....buy light truck shocks
