i got a grinding noise i believe its the brakes hiting the rotor. it only happens when turning though. i think i may have a bad hub that is letting the rotor come into contact with the rotor when more pressure is on the opposite wheel it happens more when i turn to the left. and its the passenger side making the noise. the hub is probably bad cause there is a little play. any other ideas? i just replaced the brakes and rotors so they are new and the brake pads were rounded at the top edge so the top is what is rubbing.

Auto hubs or manual? I would check the wheel nuts to see it they are loose. When I had my truck's front end done(I lack a lift and the hub tool), after about 300 miles the hubs came loose and you could feel it. Lift up the truck and try and move the tires while the steering is locked, if there is play, bearing are warn or just loose.

yeah i know its going bad a mechanic told me so a while back but said i didn't need to worry about it yet like 5 months ago. i am just wondering if that would cause the brake rub or what else would i am just out of ideas. i took th brakes apart like three times now.

It sounds completely like your wheel bearings are loose. If the bearings are loose, the rotor and tire can move while the caliber and pads get shoved around. Does the noise it make sound like a jet engine when you get going at speeds, then as you decelerate, it sounds like a turbine slowing down? That is what mine did when the bearings were loose. I would recommend ordering the bearings and races as you will more then likely have to replace them now. It should cost you about $50 for both sides, and takes about 3 hours to do, just do once side at a time so you can see what the other looks like.

no it only makes the noise while turning but i am pretty sure its the break rotor moving because of the loose bearing. since the rotor tilts in and out i think the breaks rotor is rubbing the caliper since it is in a fixed mounting position on the spindle. i am pretty sure that is what is causing it. but for a 98 the front hub assembly is the bearing which is like 300 bucks so i just was checking for other ideas.

Pull it all a part and see what you need. It could be something as simple as new wheel bearing and races, that is not $300, more like $50 for both sides.
