I need to ask about front drive shafts. Mine has a bad (sloppy) carrier bearing (2 piece driveshaft), and I'm not finding a replacement part yet. Do factory Rangers have this, or is this cobbled together (its done pretty well) because of the 1356 (F-150) t-case? I have a one piece rear driveshaft so I can't compare its carrier bearing, however my front carrier looks similar to the rear (2-piece) carrier on RockAuto. Any information to help me figure this out would be greatly appreciated.

RBVs do not have 2 piece front driveshafts, you've got some frankenstein deal going on.

Gotcha, appreciate it. Don't suppose anybody would know if late 1980's F-150's have a two piece front driveshaft? I can check that when I get time as well. This carrier certainly does look like the rear Ranger two-piece, guess I need to measure it and see.

sounds to me you need to go to a 1 piece shaft to get rid of the carrier

A note on "nomenclature" (naming)

the phrase "Carrier bearing" can be misleading try using instead "Center support bearing"
of "support bearing"

Als when refering to driveshafts "Front" is automatically understood as "Front axle driveshaft" so simply don't use the word "Front" without a qualifier like "half"

So if you are refering to the front-half of the rear driveshaft actually say so....

Unless you are getting charged by the letter by your ISP or you have severe arthritis in your hands don't be cheap on letters or words....

Now, 1980's F-series trucks WILL have a two piece driveshaft in the rear IF you are talking about a "supercab or a Crew cab, otherwise? no.

And another note "Two piece" refers specifically to the number of lengths of TUBING used in the entire assembly, not to the number of components (spline yokes U-joints etc)

There I now remove my grammar police hat and move on....

My thoughts here are get rid of the support bearing and throw in a one piece shaft!

Thanks guys. Frankenstein it is, refering to my front driveshaft. I won't be able to go with a one piece, as the trans cross member is in the way. I believe it is the normal Ranger D35 front driveshaft, with an addition to reach the transfer case. It sure looks like a normal (rear) center support bearing (thanks Allan), hoping Napa or Carquest has one on hand to look at.
