Front Diff Pinion Seal Replacement Question

After changing my TC motor, I noticed my front diff was leaking from the input shaft. I've been thinking about replacing it and I keep reading about a collapsible spacer (crush ring). When I look at the parts list online, I can't seem to find the spacer, or the nut for that matter. Does anyone know where I can find these items, or does the 2001 Ranger not even require the collapsible spacer?

Yes it does, but it's not needed to change just the pinion seal. Unbolt the driveshaft, remove the yoke nut and yoke, R&R the seal, then reinstall the yoke and nut, tighten til it makes contact against the yoke and gets snug. Make sure there is not side to side movement on the yoke, if there is, tighten slightly more. If there is still side to side movement, then most likely you have worn bearings and your diff needs a rebuild. Reinstall the driveshaft and your set:icon_thumby:

Wow, that seems a lot simpler than what I was thinking was involved. I may give this an attempt this weekend, providing my local stealership has the seal in stock. Thanks
