front diff in 2wd?

I was browsing the local CL and found a ranger I was thinking about buying for parts. A later double take of the picture got me thinking, because I thought that grill was for 4x4 models then saw what looks to be a diff just below the bumper. So is there a front diff on the 2wd models?

no there isnt, but its prol being advertised as a 2wd due to a 4wd problem, I would bottom dollar the SOB and see what you get. Check for all the components, including the 4x4 crossmember, make sure they didnt do a half ass chop job. Looking at the pic I would give over 1200

That's not a diff. That's that ugly mishapen front crossmember that hangs below the bumper.

its supposed to protect the pitman arm from impact if you bump into something...
