Ok guys I need some ideas.

The 2000 ranger I have is only rear ABS. The explorer I used for my v8 swap is 4wheel ABS. How can I get the front ABS refluctor rings on my ranger? Since the 2wd ranger rotors(non front abs) differ from the 4wd(4wheel abs) I can't just install the 4wd rotors and call it done.(wish I could!!) I have codes c1145 and c1155 for front abs sensors. The abs sensors are installed and in place. I just need a way to get the refluctor rings on my 2wd ranger.

Pictures for reference:

First, it's a reluctor ring. Not a "refluctor" ring.

Next, I suppose the first step would be to try getting some 4WABS 2wd rotors. Try a Ranger first and a 95-01 Explorer after that.

I don't know your rotor diameter so those might not be the right ones for your truck, but they are both 4-wheel ABS rotors for a 2wd ranger and others were available. Also found them at O'reilly auto, but If I can find them so can you.

Sometimes the rotors aren't marked as abs because they are the exact same as the ABS rotor with the exception of having the reluctor ring, so some manufacturers will sale one rotor to cover both applications. The examples above both are marked as having 4 wheel abs.

EDIT: Somebody deleted a post, wander if he finally found what he was looking for? 1badfox, try searching for them again and using the 4.0L as engine choice. Maybe the 2.5L didn't come with 4wabs, but the 4.0L did and the rotor doesn't care about engine size.

That last part was exactly right brother!! I couldn't find them anywhere for the 2.5, out of shear luck I tried the 4.0 and bam there they were. :icon_cheers:

Just make sure you get the right diameter for your Ranger. There were two different front rotor sizes on the 98+ Rangers, and I don't recall what trucks got what rotors. If yours has the smaller rotor, and you can find the parts for cheap, this might even be a good time for a small upgrade. IIRC the only difference is the bolt location on the spindle to account for the larger rotor.

Something else you may want to try before buying new rotors is to find a pair of used 2wd Ranger or Explorer rotors at the junkyard with front ABS. I've heard you can remove the reluctor ring by knocking out the studs in a star pattern and install it on your existing/new rotor. I know I have heard of people doing this in the past when a reluctor ring broke and a brake job wasn't needed. Rather than doing the one side brake job, they just bought a new rotor, swapped the ring, and stuck the new rotor on the shelf for when they needed it.
