I didn't know where to put this so I hope this is ok. So I got a freebie a few months ago. Just now getting the balls to install this. It's honestly not that bad. I'd rather do this than change a flat tire. IT's about an hrs worth of work. But I enjoyed it. I got to wrench on the Ranger today. So here ya go from solid to slider.

Solids look so much cleaner in a truck like yours. But hey, the sliders are extremely functional.

I prefer the slider. Makes for better air flow through the cab in the summer.

A gen 2 regular cab with postal flag mirrors is about the only place I wouldn't want a slider. The particular aerodynamic properties of that particular truck are such that with all windows open, traveling in a straight line at 65 MPH, a soda can or cig butt thrown out the driver's window will land in the passenger's lap, through the rear window.

I take it you found out the hard way? That's an awful strange piece of information to know, but come to think of it, I have heard that before on here - but it was probably from you!

just curious, 83-97 rear windows interchange right? its getting a little dicey tossing empty soda cans out of the cab into the bed while driving with a solid window... lets just say you have to be flexible...

You can launch 'em straight over the cab. Where I have an SUV I just toss them into a bag behind the seats, I usually have the rear seats folded down anyways, I never have more than one passenger.

lol you guys are hilarious. I don't throw cans in the back of my bed. Well #1 I don't have a gate. It's getting shaved and smooth.

No. 83-92 might but in 93 the back window changed shape.

I don't have a problem tossing cans back with my solid back glass. Sunroof FTW.

Took me a while to get used to having a cap though. Haha.

While riding in a buddy's (79?) Luv a few years back I turned to toss an empty soda can into the bed via the open slider, and much to the surprise of both of us, it landed back in my lap. Over and over again. Air does funny things.

I do love my slider, I don't think I could survive in the summer without either it or A/C. I do wish the latch would actually work well though, they are pretty much junk on my style of truck.

But I hate it this time of year, it is a constant shower of leaves through that back window and out the side window.

I have sucked paper cups out of the bed and had it hit the windshield in front of my face (exciting :icon_surprised:) but it is pretty rare. I generally don't throw things in the back going down the road. With the sidewindow down (generally above 60 degrees) the air is coming into the cab through the back window so it just doesn't work well.

I like my sliding window on those long trips. I open the slider all the way and roll down my window to adjust the air flow. Only problem that I have had is that everything that flows over the cab or in the bed, ends up on my dash or in my face. Maybe a screen cover would prevent this.

I still want one in my '92, but it's not at the top of the priority list.

I had a slider in my 302 Datsun, along with a sun-roof, and I loved them both.

dude yes! I almost never have my slider open when driving because it causes anything in the bed to catch some major air and end up in the cab even if i didn't throw it back there! Lol Like leaves and chit. Sucks! Thank god I fixed my ac though it blows brrrr cold!!
