Freeze Plug

Got a 99 Ranger 4.0L 5spd that is leaking coolant. Mechanic said it was a freeze plug issue so I was wondering if you guys could point me toward a Do it yourself thread. Just need to know what tools I will need and the difficulty of the repair. Thanks for the help guys.

There is a sticky about installing a block heater. The heater installs in place of a freeze plug and goes over removing it and such.

Another option is an expandable rubber freeze plug. Look in the 'help' rack at your local auto parts store.
