So I am at Autozone trying to get a set of calipers and I start talking to the guy behind the counter. He told me if it was the booster he had one I could have. Come to find out he has a 1990 Bronco II 4x2 with a bad motor he wants to get rid of, told me I could have it if I come get it.

Yeehaw!

:icon_surprised:

Congrats- go for it!

Yay! Free stuff! 4x2? I think that equals pre-runner B2:icon_thumby:

I am getting ahead of myself, but I am thinking tear it down to the frame and build it from the ground with a 4.0L D35, etc...

Sighs.. The fiancee is going to shit.. and not in a happy way!

Hmm, sounds lika a good sas swap.... Maybe d44 or d30 from a jeeper, and a 4.0=woohoo! and the fiance thing, I know how it is man, I have "too many projects, just start one and finish one dammitt!" Females just don't get it!
How are the brakes coming? Blown caliper? oughta check one side at a time...

The brakes suck! I have narrowed it down to the front system, so it is either the lines or the calipers.

When I plug the port for the frton brakes on the master cylinder I get full pedal pressure and the rears work awesome. Hook up the front line again, pedal get spongy and will travel to the floor.

Grrrr

I am going to call the guy tomorrow to make sure he wasn't screwing with me.

I don't think so though, because I asked him for his address and he wrote it down, along with a phone number and his name.

I've always thought if you take a 4x2 Bronco II frame and put a Ranger cab on it,, then a 302 or 351w,,, then shorten a shortbox. How much would it weigh and how quick would it be? Could it do wheelies?

I once gave some serious thought to the idea of a Ranger cab on a Bronco2 frame, then I thought about it some more....

And decided I'd RATHER build it on an explorer frame and use a supercab cab.... a supercab cab won't fit onto a bronco2 frame
unless you body lift it like 6-8 inches.

Hey, an Explorer will already have the D35 and the 31spline 8.8" axle a disc brake axle is a simple bolt on.

AND it has an acceptably large midship tank

And though some brackets will have to be fabricated to mount the bed to the wider explorer frame, AND the bed may need to be shortened in the front, I wouldn't shorten it in the back, I'd lengthen the frame.

Reserecting an OLD thread, when I finally did call the guy he wanted me to pay him what it was worth at the scrap yard.

Which I didn't... So it fell through.
