Freakin wires and such

So has any one figured out how to run wires and such while doing a v8 swap and not have a mess. Have been thinking on it and best I came up with was wire loom and little rubber insolated clips

I ran keyed power to a 40a continuous duty relay under the hood on the PS fender. That wire originally fed the ignition. From there it fed a fuse panel I added, so things like the choke, efan, fuel pump and ignition are ran from the there and not from inside the cab. I looked up what everything I had drew and I was well below 40A.

I also have that relay getting its main power from another fuse block that is for all my constant power stuff like lights which is also on the PS fender so it is fused too.

With the cover off it kinda looks bad I admit, I have a diagram I drew in CAD (not on this computer) of what is what and a printed copy in the glove box (with a spare relay)

I ran everything to and fro in plastic conduit, planning as I was making the harnesses helped keep it looking fairly clean (er on the side of too long because it will probably end up being too short anyway) The thing that holds the wiring above the air cleaner clips on the cowl and is from a second gen. It is a constant evolution, it isn't as clean as I want it to be yet.

I did it this way so everybody's fuses were in the same place and the same type (as opposed to "included" inline fuses scattered all over) and nothing is piggybacked off of anything else.

Mine is carbed too for what that matters.

Step 1: Order tech flex in various sizes.

Step 2: order assortment of molex connectors and the proper crimpers.

Step 3: build beautiful wire harness.

Step 4: decide you should have done this that and the other thing different and toss first harness in garbage.

Step 5: repeat steps 1 thru 3 until step 4 doesn't happen.

Clean wiring is an exercise in patience.

Here is the CAD drawing I drew up so I can keep track of what does what to what down the road.
 
what CAD program did you use for that? I found a few online but haven't decided on a single one to use.

I haven't been able to beat Draftsight.

It is free and to someone who used AutoCAD a fair bit it is a pretty seamless transition.
