I vaguely remember (I could be wrong) that I saw somewhere where someone had frame skirts (might be the wrong name) that cover the frame rails in the rear wheel wells (similar to what protect the engine bay in the front wheel wells of my 99). Did a search and couldn't find anything.

.

like for body lifts? you can buy them, called gap gaurds

The real gap guards are spendy.
I, as well as others, use some black plastic lawn edging screwed to the inside.
It is black and covers 3-4" gaps. The stuff I bought had enough for both my truck and trailer for about $10.

Hmmm, have some of that in the garage. Will have to check it out tomorrow. Thanks
