frame question

this is the closest to a place to ask a frame question I can find on the site, so here's my question. is there a difference between the frames of a 2wd and 4wd ranger? also, does anyone have or know were i can find a frame diagram of a ranger and f150? thanks.

what year of trucks you are comparing? For us to give you the help you want, you need to help us by giving us information!

00+ Trailhead/Edge/Sport 2wd trucks(excluding 09 4cyl sport) all have the same frame and suspension as a 98+ 4x4 truck. Rear half of all rangers are the same. 98+ coil spring 2wd's front frame half is completely different from the above mentioned torsion bar 2wd's/4x4's.

not to mention that pre 98 TTB trucks have diffrent front crossmembers between 2wd and 4wd

same goes for pre 97 f150's...they are TTB as well, allthough a bigger design of the Ranger, there isn't really much interchangeeable

97+ F150's use a-arm front suspensions ( coil on 2wd, torsion on 4wd til 05 when they went to struts)

main difference is the front crossmember between 2wd and 4 wd

and as said above, even though it is basically the same design..not much interchangable between the F150 and Ranger

what's different about the cross member?

They are shaped differently. The 4wd front end and brackets needed to mount it won't bolt to the 2wd engine crossmember.
