Well my SAS has been done for a while and i thought all the bugs were worked out but last night my shock mount tore a hole out of the frame. Kinda wierd considering i was just driving on roads. Anyone here boxed their frame in, if so can you post some pictures because thats my next step.

Had you welded that bracket to the frame instead of just bolting it, that wouldn't have happened. By welding it, you are spreading the force across more area, thus reducing the stress in the joint.

You could still bolt it, I might be inclined to do both, but that failure was more than likely due to an inadequate bolted joint.

thanks for the input ill do both this time still want to box the frame for the added tourque of the new motor. Just a mildly built 302 with a c6 you think it needs boxed or no?????

I always weld those shock mounts to the coil bucket.

+1
They need more support than those two close-together bolts at the bottom.

Looks like you got a little work ahead of you on that frame, if those are cracks I see going all the way up over the top.

Stock frames are normally perfectly fine with mild-moderate V8 builds however.

Looking back at this thread, I might also be inclined to add a triangular gusset behind this shock mount too. You have such a tall mount and since the support is so low on the frame, you create a huge moment about that top bolt, this can also be remedied by a gusset behind the shock mount.

Edit: Added image. The gusset I'm referring to is the red part in this picture.
