Hey all, I've got a 93' Ranger Supercab 4x4 with the 4.0 ohv. I've had some issues with the fuel system and just bought a new Fuel Pressure Regulator. Came across a problem...the fitting for the fuel line that connects to the top is something like I've never seen before. And the new FPR, the top connection is threaded.

The connection now looks like a quick disconnect, but I dont see any tabs. And it's not a larger pressure connection.

I then called the local parts store where I got it from and they said that all 3 FPR's they carried had the same threaded connections.

Any suggestions?

Thomas

i would probably go to the ford dealership and just get a FPR from them, so you can just use the stock fittings. Either way your going to spend more money on either new threaded fittings or take your FPR back and pay a little more to get one from the dealer.

I dont mind getting a factory FPR, but I have no clue as how to take the fitting off the old factory FPR. Never seen the style before.

I know this is an old thread but I have a similar problem on my 4.0 and was looking for some opinions. My FPR is leaking at the pressure line fitting connection. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the line disconnected, and from what I've read, they don't sell that style line anymore. I'm thinking about just going to the junkyard and looking for the newest FPR and line I can find and replace both at the same time, unless somebody knows how to remove the line.

Fuel lines are special (why - I don't know), thus they need their own special fittings - Complete BS. Go to the auto parts store and get the set of plastic fuel line QD removal tools. $10-$20 for the set. One of the sizes in the set will work, and then the set will stay in your toolbox forever (like mine does). Handy to have when you need to change the fuel filter too.

Not on this one, this fitting was not a typical ful line and my plastic tools wouldnt fit it. There was no clearance to fit a tool between the fitting and the top of the FPR itself. I went to the junkyard and got a newer style regulator with a bolt down hose and replaced both instead. The parts were 13 dollars so all in all it was the best route to go.
