okay, so here's the deal. a good buddy of mine bought an 89 notch 5.0 earlier this spring. within a couple months he had managed to rear end another car. he found a clean 91 notch 2.3 that he bought and drove for a while as is. he stripped the drive train from the 5.0 car, and swapped the 5.0 into the 91. he bought an engine harness from a 91 GT and swapped it into the car at the same time. he's got all of the wiring buttoned up how it *should* be, but there's obviously wiring issues somewhere. when you crank the engine, the starter motor stays running until you turn the key off. the fuel pump doesn't prime when you turn on the key unless you are holding the clutch down. the injectors are not opening, the ignition is firing though. the computer seems to have power. i've been helping him most of the way, but we are both stumped at this point.

summary:
91 lx (originally 2.3)
89 5.0 engine
91 GT engine harness
91 dash harness
89 computer
89 steering column

anybody? :icon_confused:

89 column is a no no. if you still have the 91 column take just the lock cyl and slider for the harness and plug it into existing...see if your problems go away. othewise start running systems down one by one. but it sounds like you have a bad ignition switch. which is located on the column white plastic piece black connector 12 or 16 heavy guage wires going into it

i agree with above, my ing switch went in my 88 and it did some crazy stuff. also recheck all yer grounds. are the 89 and 91 both are bag columns? i no my 88 is not. also sounds like will have a nice notch when yer done. always wanted one

should have mentioned that this has been figured out... for the most part anyways. the majority of the problem was 2 or 3 plugs in the engine harness that weren't plugged in because they didnt match from one harness to another. after that was straightened out, it starts and runs. theres still a little something wrong in the way it runs, but he hasnt figured that out yet.
