i just got a fox body mustang 8.8 rearend i would like to know if both axles from a ranger rearend (both 28-spline axles) would fit directly into the axle housing of the fox body or will only the left axle work

I was always told that if u wanted a cheap 5 lug conversion for the fox body, u needed 2 of the same side axle shafts(28 spline) from a ford ranger. I havent tried to convert my stang to 5 lug yet but thats just what i was told. And as for the front, something about lincoln 5 lug rotors will work on the front.

thanks for your help i was afraid that was the situation but i got the rearend for free so i cant complain

That's my take on the axles also. Rangers and Explorers have the pinion off-set, calling for different axles, the later Mustangs have the same length axle on both sides. Think the Mustangs are too wide also. What you planning on doing? If going into a Ranger, stick with a Ranger/Explorer rear end.

thanks dave im just gonna take the differential from the new unit i have and put it in the old one
