I have an old Hart Professional 12 inch square sub with a broken lead. It has 2 sets of positive/negative connections and the broken one is one of the grounds. I want to use it, but theres not enough lead to solder back to where it broke off. Would I be able to use it only half hooked up? Or would that damage it? I just want a little more boom, but I'm no window rattler so I'm fine with it working at only half capacity.

But then again I'm more mechanically inclined than electrically, so theres probably some sort of black magic that won't let me run off of only half the connections

You should be ok running it off only 1 voice coil.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll go ahead and give it a shot. And yeah its just the one neg lead that's bad, the other is fine.
