Found a guy with a 88 ranger body with no rust at all, or dents. It does need new paint but body and the inside are in great shape. Still has a tranny but the 2.0 that was in it is pulled out for some reason. Seems like the perfect truck for a v8 maby 2.3 turbo swap but he wants $500 for just a body. That sound a little high??

for reference, about a year ago I bought a running 87 4x4 with explorer axles and james duff lift for $700 body had a few small dents and very minor rust. I'd say if it needs paint the price is a little high, although not outrageous. pictures would help.

I wouldn't buy a non-running ranger for that much. Its worth its weight in scrap if you ask me. Hes "waisting" everyones time by posting it for that much, haha.

True, but on the other hand you would spend much more than that buying lower quality aftermarket bedsides, doors, fenders and a hood for a rustbucket if this one really as straight as it is thought to be.

Theres a difference between selling a complete vehicle and parting something out. He could get a good chuck of change if he parted it out, but selling it as is for $500 probably is not going to happen.

I was thinking buying a clean truck that is ready to go vs buying a truck and fixing it up with aftermarket sheetmetal... or trying to track down straight original sheetmetal. Yeah it is a dead truck, but for a 5.0 swap canidate it doesn't really matter.

Paints not bad at all, you could do some sanding and just respray it..

I would try and talk him down though... i mean 600 is a bit much for a body...? Or would it be better to put under the term Rolling Chassis?

i would be all over that if it had the sportier little mirrors on it. that would be the perfect 5.0 candidate if you ask me.
