ForOffRoadDriving's 94 Ranger Build

Sorry for about the delay for taking the pictures. It kept slipping my mind. She needs some rust repair and a new clear coat, I should be doing that within the next year.

So what are you doing with "Retired Ranger" now? Going to try and sell 'er to an old codger to haul leaves to the dump, or just let 'er be?

damn mp3, you werent kidding they are identical all the way down to the pin striping! Andres, the plans for "retired ranger" are to use it as a back up vehicle incase thumper goes down (hopefully that never happens again!) or has to go under the knife again (im sure ill be modifying it more). ill proabably be putting black front and rear bumpers on it once i put the rear bumper from R.R. on my brothers stx.

so for the past few weeks ive been doing side jobs trying to get enough $ to buy another BFG AT, but its been slow going. seems like every time i get close to the $150 mark something comes up and i have to "blow my wad" on something other than new rubbers. i took my GF and her little sister mountain biking a couple of days ago, that was an experience to say the least. it was pretty dark when we returned to the parking lot but i took a pic anyways.

i had a day off so i did some cleaning and detailing and of course took some pics while i was at it.

i also put a new exhaust on karls STX, i just havent taken any pics of it. he got a new front pipe and tail pipe and a flowmaster 60 series delta flow and i welded it all up. it sounds nice on his lil 2.9l, pretty quiet inside the cab and has a nice rumble on the outside, its a good reflection of the 2.9ls personality.

i finaly got some pics to update with, and also some more news that should move the build along further. first pic is of karls exhaust, a flowmaster 60 series delta flow welded to stock replacement tail pipe and extension pipe.

i also got my air horn hooked up properly (with a relay this time) and it sounds mean! i removed the brush guard mounted hellas and finished painting the brackets (after a salty winter season of rusting) and i got all 4 BGF A/Ts on the truck and its riding smooth now.

i also ordered 2 new JL audio subwoofers with integrated grills which should be here sometime next week, im so excited i cant wait!

Hehe. I think my truck will look similar to yours when I get my leveling lift and 30's on it.

Wow man, after two days of reading I'm finally done with your thread. I guess nothing that I say could describe how impressive all your work has been since the beginning. As a lot of people have said already, a lot of the ideas you've been having are things we've just dreamed on doing, and you tackled them leaving all of us thinking "wait, hmmm, that actually can be done" :icon_confused:... keep up the good work!!

btw, I might be asking for your permission to copy a couple of your mods down the road :icon_cheers:

thanks guys, feel free to copy any of my mods....... alot of them i copied from others and a few were all my own idea (jump seat subs and 4wd switch plate). the subs i ordered still arent here and im thinking they may never show up. for any one who reads this that is thinking about getting into audio, DO NOT do business with dealer cost car audio. they have low prices, but they use them to draw you in and take your money and never send you anything. im saving money again to buy some from crutchfield or sonic electronics (sonic is currently out of stock but that may change by the time i finish saving), nothing ever stands in the way of me modding my truck!

ok, heres some more pics for you all. my exhaust hanger broke off from the front pipe a while back so i decided to replace the whole system again, re using the flowmaster of course, but this time i swapped out the funtional converter for the gutted one that i made quite a while back in the build. it sounds really good now and has a resonance that makes it sound like its cammed when you get on it!

now i just need to get a nice day to crawl back under there and paint it all up to keep the rust away.

i also picked up these seats from a guy i work with for a pretty good price, he told me they were mustang seats when i bought them, but when i got home and took the plastic bags off from them (they were removed in 1999 from an escort zx2 by rousch racing, in favor of some racing seats im sure) i realized that they werent from a mustang, they were from an escort. either way, they are very comfortable and will allow me to recline all the way back, almost completely horizontal. plus ill have to fab some mounts up for them since the seat frame is 2" wider (16") than the rangers seat frame (14"), so that will give me an opportunity to set my own ride positions and allow the passenger seat to slide farther back for taller passengers.

Well, would ya look at that! What are you doing about the rest of the blue interior? Or are you just going to leave 'em grey and blue?

BTW, looks like your dad hasn't noticed the covers on his headlights yet. Haha!

i think im just going to leave the interior as is. i dont think the seats will look TOO out of place, but if they do i can always get seat covers or wait till i find a newer ranger in the junk yard with the black and blue seats and then snatch them up? theres really nothing wrong with the seats i have in the truck now, other than it feels like some one way bigger than me with a wallet way fatter than mine spent a lot of time in the drivers seat! my dad did notice the covers on his truck, but he kind of likes them so they have stayed on (he doesnt drive it daily yet since he wants to do a clutch on it, but when he does those will be the first thing to come off).

oh and can you take some pics of how your pedal covers are made and attached, i really wanna do that to mine

ForOffRoadDriving, how did ya get your ranger to sit almost level?Did you use leveling coils and a coil spacer or jus a a leveling coil?
