ForOffRoadDriving's 94 Ranger Build

very clean with attention to detail as always, nice

thanks guys, im trying to do a clean job with this system, but the more wires i add to it the more of a mess it seems to become. trying to cut the slots in the right place for the rca cables and speaker wires is going to be tough, when i did the battery cable slots it was kind of a close guess, but im going to need to be precise with these ones.

as it sits ive got my speaker wires ran for both subs and rear speakers, i just need to run the wires for the door speakers and then get the terminals to connect them to the speakers. im having a problem with my amps though, as 2 of them are staying lit up when the key is off, and the first one in the series is off? if i unplug the rca input cables to the one on the passenger side and the middle then the lights go out on them, even though the remote wire is still hooked up and the radio is still on? im going to remove the relay first before i try to understand why theyre doing this because the issues may be related to the relay? it seems that once again ive tried to over engineer the situation and now ive got a mess! hers a pic of where im at right now

i found the problem, i feel like an idiot now. i had 1 amp wired backwards (positive and negative reversed, blown fuse was the give away), so once i fixed that and removed the relay completely i was able to get them to turn on and off with the HUs operation. i also managed to get the speaker wires for the door speakers ran (THAT WAS A PAIN! i had to remove the e-brake pedal assembly to get to the wire after i fished it through the door jamb) and got my speakers fitted into the doors, so now i just need to tie all my wires up on the amp board and put terminals on the speaker wires so i can plug into my speakers. im figuring i should be done by monday if i keep working on it all night like i have been (i was out in the garage until 2am last night, had to work at 8). heres some pics:

i got the system all hooked up last night and im defineatley happy with the results. for the most part everything went according to plan (except for the soldering iron burn the back board accidentally recieved). the bass isnt overly loud (which is what i was going for) and it fills in the lows nicely but you cant hear it from outside the truck, which i also like. suddenly all my old music sounds like new music since theres lots of notes i couldnt hear before with only the stock HU powering the lightning audio speakers. im going to run these pyramids for a while until i get used to them and then either poly fill the boxes or buy new subs to see how much of a change i notice.

Wow! That system look really, really clean. Good job, man! Must have taken whole heaps of patience.

damn!! u even rmoved the e brake!!
looks really neat man, my props

thanks guys, im glad you like it. i keep catchin shit from my friends with bigger speakers in their trucks, but their setups arent nearly as clean and thought out plus im happy with what i made (minus that burn).

well i added some poly fill last night, and all i have to say is B A D A S S ! i didnt think it would make that much of a difference, but i was wrong. i also bought some new 8-32 screws for the subs since i didnt like the slot head screws i had in there (flat blades are sharp and speakers are fragile), i endedup using the rounded ones with the smaller allen head on them.

i bought a storage box last night to put in my bed and i got it mounted up this morning before heading to work. it looks pretty cheap, but my brother has been running the same one in his truck for 2 years and has been happy with it so far.

You've got one good looking, happy little family there. :icon_thumby:

thanks andres, theres 2 more hiding in the back yard, they just need a little bit of ambition before they can join the happy family out front.

nice family :D
i have one of our 3 american rangers, i need one with the cre cab ranger lol

.

nice family ranger sport honduras, i like that 4 door alot but i think it needs some mud tires! i was really enjoying my system until both of my subs blew up:icon_surprised: i knew those pyramids were cheap but i expected them to last a while longer so i could save up for some new subs. im thinking about getting a pair of either JL 8W1V2-4 with pre fitted grills http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1368W1V24/JL-Audio-8W1v2-4.html?search=8w1v2-4&ssi=0&tp=111, or Pioneer TSSW841D shallow mount subs http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_130SW841D/Pioneer-TS-SW841D.html?search=tssw841d&ssi=0. for now im using a Q-logic band pass box that i had laying around with an 8" Kenwood KFC-W2002 sub. this little box bangs, i just wish it didnt take up so much space.
