ForOffRoadDriving's 94 Ranger Build

the shovel mount used 2 different size clamps, one to fit the roll bar (3") and one to fit the shovel (2-1/4"). i used a 7/16 bolt between the two for the shovel and a 1/2" bolt for the highlift welded to a 3" clamp to fit the roll bar. i used the rubber hose as an insulator and also to keep them from slipping down the tube over time.

i have been workign on my brothers truck for the last 2 days and its finally done (all except the shifter bushings that we have to wait on ford to get). heres the pictures i took, its definatley going to feel like a different truck once its back on the road again!

i put the oxygen sensor in on my lunch break and i also got his catalytic converter in place with the new gaskets and hardware and i just have to go home tonight and double check that everythings tight and then we can throw the interior back together and fill up the fluids!

i got the trailer into the last stages of mock up before i weld on some more supports and paint it. i still need to cut the boards to the same length and drill the holes to mount them, but its getting there quickly.

on my last couple of days off i got my horn fixed (it was a burned contact just like i thought), i got my back up lights hooked up to the toggle switch, and i built a little box to hold sand bags for the winter.

when i was fastening the fuse block to the underside of the dash i accidentally misjudged the length of the screw i was using and ran it into a black box that said something about brakes. now my abs light has been intermittently coming on and im pretty sure i was the cause. good thing i have a parts truck!

i also decided to probe the contacts on the fog light plug to see if i could make sense of how things were wired and im close, but i wish i could just get a wiring diagram of the fog light circuit to confirm my thinking.

terra and i went to the shooting range on sunday and i taught her how to shoot a gun
(remington 597 .22 with a BSA sweet 22 scope) for the first time. she was very nervous at first, but after cycling a couple of clips through it she had gotten the hang of it. my dad was spotting her so i decided to head the the 100yd range and run some rounds through my marlin 917v (.17 hmr with a BSA sweet 17 scope).

i was in such a hurry to get my stuff together that i forgot my targets and had to dig through the trash cans to find something to shoot at.

when we got done she was happy and she had a lot of fun, but when it came time to clean the guns she fell asleep on the couch and i procedded to tear down, clean, oil, and the reassemble.

Hey ForOffRoadDriving,

What did you put on the dorman plugs when you installed them on the transmission. It looks like there's some kind of sealant. Thanks in advance.

Adreenaleen

thumper has got skyjacker leveling coils with 1/2 skyjacker coil spring spacers and im currently running 30x9.50x15 mud terrains on 15" cragar soft 8s. to answer Adreenaleens' question i used permatex aviation form a gasket liquid sealer. we use it in our machine shop when we install freeze plugs to ensure that they seal because with all of these grass-hut-nation parts floating around the last thing we need is a customer coming back for a leaking freeze plug.

is that 597 a Semi-Auto , i just went to the range with my Savage Mark II , i have it set up with a BiPod and a Scope ( Right Handed , Left Eye dominant ) , i dropped it a couple months ago and had to re-sight it. And that marlin looks good.

lookin nice guys! yeah, the 597 is semi auto with a 10 round clip, but i usually only load 5 into it because these guns have a tendancy to jam due to a poor magazine design. i wish butler creek would make a high capacity magazine that ACTUALLY WORKED! remington has released 3 different magazines that were supposed to work better than the orignial, but they still occasionally jam. i gave a haha when i read right handed, left eye dominant because im the same way and im always getting shit from my friends about it. "either wear an eyepatch or learn to shoot left handed" is what they tell me.

Figures!

Read through the build forever ago, was toooooo tired to post once I was done though. I love the truck, you did such an awesome job on it, truck looks brand new. Bet it drives like brand new as well. Excellent, excellent work. Like how you've got the hi-lift and shovel mounted as well.

Happy black friday.........my f**king truck broke! i went out side this morning to head to work from terras house and as usual i let it warm up for a few minutes when all of a sudden it just quit. no spitting or sputtering or any sign of trouble, just dead. i gave my truck a funny look and turned the key and it fired up again, but was running a little rough, so i gave it some gas and things smoothed out. i then put it in gear and got rolling through the trailer park and then again out of no where it just died. i tried to restart it but it wouldnt fire, so i turned the key back off then put the pedal all the way to the floor incase it was doing its 'cold start- over fueling thing' that is usually does, but it still wouldnt fire. i got out and pulled the ECU relay and then put it back in, tried to restart it and still nothing. it didnt throw a check engine light and i couldnt get any codes when i tried to pull them once i got it home. i called up karl and told him to come rescue me, so after about 30 mins we were hooked up and on our way home. i did snap a couple of pics for you guys, since i know how much you crave them!

so now i have to go home tonight and try to figure this thing out, it should be something simple (i think) since it was just an all of a sudden thing, but its just got me so worked up that im afraid ill be too blinded by anger to catch it right away. i guess the broght side is that i didnt wake up hung over, which is amazing since i drank alot of makers mark and dr. pepper!
