ForOffRoadDriving's 94 Ranger Build

i used 3-1/2 muffler clamps to hold the jack to the roll bar, and i welded 3" long 1/2" bolts onto the clamps. i then loosely clamped the bolt in the vise and set a washer on it until it was to the point where the threads stoped and then i tightened the vise. by doing this the washer is now square with the bolt so that when i tighten the wing nut by hand it wont have as much of a tendency to vibrate loose since everything is square. i made mounts for my shovel that i have in the rescue ranger which i plan to soon adapt to fit on the other down tube of the roll bar.

heres what i found after todays tests, the bank 1 o2 sensor is showing no voltage, so i replaced it with another new one (old one only had 1,000 miles on it) and its still showing no voltage. the engine rpm read out on the scanner doesnt match whats on my autometer tach (about a 500-700 rpm difference, but with the slower refresh rate of the scanner its hard to tell exactly) and theres a few more things i still have to find the definition of the abbreviation to understand better. heres some pics for the hell of it

this blows dude i check your build everyday its sweet

yeah this sucks for sure. i dont have any pictures up yet but i did get the shovel mounts built, the shovel painted, and everything mounted. i was going to finish wiring the over head lights last night, but it was getting dark and it was cold so i said screw it, ill finish it saturday. one of my front tires has been leaking for a while now, so i put some slime in it and it seems to be holding good so far. usually i can expect to put 20-30 lbs of air in the tire a day, but it was still at 50psi when i came out this morning to go to work.

holy shit you run 50 psi in 31s? damn dude drop it down to like 35. have you ever thought about a 4wd swap on your truck?

i think ill try dropping them to 40 and see how they drive. both rear tires were on a truck that obviously needed an alignment but never got one because they are worn on the insides pretty bad. at about 35-45 they wobble pretty bad but then smooth out once i hit 45+ mph. ive thought about swapping in 4x4, but for now its going to stay 2wd. id like to put my efforts into a bII (ive got my eye on a clean gen 1) that way i can concentrate on making it a bad ass wheeler and not have to worry about driving it to and from work everyday. ive also got plans to build a flat bed out of the rescue ranger when i take it off the road, so i may do the 4x4 swap on that one and make it my work truck/ trail toy. either way, i really need to get a gen 2 explorer to feed my parts needs (want the 8.8 for thumper and the d35 for a future swap into one of my trucks.

on tuesday night i made the brackets for my shovel and managed to squeeze in a coat of POR15 before bed. on my lunch break on wednesday i sprayed them with the fleet enamel and let them dry until i got home from work for the night, and then i mounted them along with the shovel.

only the ones on the last page are going to show up

the hi lift is probably going to be a winter project when i have my finances together better. im not sure if i want to paint it yellow and black to match the smiley or black and blue to match the colors of thumper, or just repaint it red again? either way you can be sure there will be plenty of pics! tomorrow im going to finish wiring the overhead lights and maybe run my wiring for the reverse lights..........after i give my neighbors kia a look over.
