Formulating a plan

I’m at the point of removing the trans to engine bolts. The book says to matchmark the torque converter to flywheel.

Unfortunately I don’t know how to identify these parts. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thank you

The flywheel/flexplate will have teeth that the starter engages. The torque converter is shaped like an oversize donut and is bolted to the flywheel/flexplate. You can use a paint pen or a scratch awl.

I see it! Thank you.

Wait.. so, stick a paint pen in the plate where the starter engages and mark the flywheel and the part that bolts to it? Then unbolt the torque converter by turning the crankshaft until i see a nut, removing them all? Seems sketchy. The book says to matchmark the flywheel to torque converter. Remove the bolts.. it doesn’t say which bolts and if they do mean the torque converter they are mistaken because it’s nuts on the torque converter, not bolts.

Okay, I understand now. The flywheel stays with the motor and the torque converter stays with the tranny, so yes, I need to remove all the nuts through the plate where the starter engages the flywheel.. fun. :)

Makes sense. The starter turns the motor and has to connect to the transmission somewhere right? Lol.

Done for the night.. time for a beer.
