Ford will charge extra for 4-cylinder engine on the new Explorer

I think the revised question would be, "Will the Explorer ever be the same?". I can see Ford charging more for an EcoBoot I4 20 vs. a Duratec V6 35. The Ecoboost is direct fuel injection and turbo charged, while the Duratec is not. But after reading the rest of it. The new 2011 Explorer is a Unibody, front wheel drive vehicle. AKA, oversized Escape.

I love this line
Ford cut its weight by about 100 pounds (45 kilograms) by switching the SUV from a heavy pickup-truck frame to the same chassis as the Taurus sedan

sign of the times i guess...
