Hey I got a 2004 ford ranger 3.0 automatic that I’m doing an engine swap to a 3.0 manual transmission can I get the ecm and wiring hardness from a 2004 ford ranger 4.0 manual transmission is it the same as a 3.0 or I have to find the same engine size ? Please help

yes, to a certain point. check the tech section and see if it covers which years as i am not sure on the cut offs

Will I have problems starting the truck with original key ? I did an engine swap and trans and changed the ecm

i think if you use the original key, you will be ok. but wait for someone else to answer who knows more. i am just answering from stuff i think i read saying that

04 was the first year of the digital gauge cluster. You're probably not going to be able to start the truck with the original key unless you have the whole thing reflashed.

I did an auto to manual swap, but it was 2000 truck and replacement PCM. I had to get PATS deleted with an aftermarket tuner, and I have the older dumb gauge cluster that's not tied to anything. Your truck being an 04 will likely be a bit more complex. Can't honestly say that I've read anybody doing a manual swap like that on an 04+ truck.

I got the ecm reflashed now I’m just waiting on the wiring hardness hopefully it turns on
