Howdy Y'all,
I recently got a 1996 Ford Ranger SL, and was wondering if there is any tie down spots in the box like in the chev siveraldo. I have a box liner and dont want to try to take it out. Can any body tell me??

rangers didn't start factory type tie downs inside the beds until 98, how ever I do have a set of tie downs from a 98 parts bed with the threaded backing plates that was spot welded to the bed If your interested in them

I have boat anchor tie offs bolted in my bed...... they are bomb diggity.

Stepside beds 93 up usually have factory tie downs. don't know if you have a steppie or fleetside. The hooks are black composite, looks like a boat tie down and as frank said, are the bomb diggity.

my old fleetside had no hooks.

Not to jack the thread but i just realized you have a Protege' that's awesome, mines a 98 with 210k and it is wrecked on all four corners with sever hail damage but it gets 32 mpg and cost 800 bucks!!! did your steering wheel cover fall off? i'm scared to death to wreck mine it's just got a half inch steel bar there now.....

My 97 has factory tie downs and a bedliner. another member here requested pics of how they were set... I replied... let me see if I can find the thread

Those must be late 97 or a different bed. My brother & girlfriend both had 97 rangers & neither of them had inside tie downs. The type that goes into the stack pockets tend to either bend or distort the top of the bed.

I can assure you that my truck is an original 97, and it came with those tie downs. they could possibly be a dealer add on, but the hardware looks oem to me.

My parents bought the truck in the spring of 1997.

Never had a problem with the two I have on the back of mine. :dunno:

Your not supposed to hook a snatch strap to it and take off to pull your buddies out.

I dont anymore actually. Sold the Mazdaratti before moving across the country. It was a fun car. 180k miles on it and still crazy reliable. After a tune up i was getting 33 mpg with a lead foot. It smoked a bit though. The Valve guides were pretty worn. I dont care what anyone says about the protege, its a fun, peppy, good handling car that sips gas. and decently roomy considering how small they look.
