Please help i have a 1995 for ranger my keys burnt in my househow do i get the clip out of my ignition when i have no key to turn the switch to on?

I would be easier to remove the door lock cylinder and take it to a lock smith, he can then make keys for that lock and they will work in the ignition switch.
Assuming they used the same keys.

1995 might be too old but with the VIN number a Ford dealer "may" be able to make you a key. I believe they only do that for 10 years so '95 may not be available at 19 years
Bring the registration/title with you

If none of the above work then you will need to drill out the old cylinder, the problem with that is you often damage the switch, so new cylinder won't work well.

what he said:D

Actually (little known fact) half the bumps on your key are for the door, the other half is for the ignition, so they can't cut an ignition key from a door cylinder ( according to a locksmith) Try the vin# at ford, they made one for my son's '95 explorer last year

We only go back 10 years for key codes.

That's a real ranger owner right there OP. House burns down and more concerned about getting new keys for the truck.:icon_cheers:

not true at least for all vehicles but in the case of my ranger 10 cut key the ign cyl uses 8 of the 10 and door uses the 2 that were not used by ign and 6 more. so a key can be made from door lock then you run a progression to find last 2 cuts..i think this info is right but will confirm tomorrow when i go to work (we have books on such things) :D

I just recently removed the steering column from a 96 and it was amazingly easy...about 5 bolts gets it out (once you remove all that fancy dressing) and if you can find one in a junkyard (with keys) just take the door locks and the steering column...

It will probably cost you more to do it this way but just think of the fun you will have!

or just take your column to a locksmith ?

or call a locksmith to come to you - house insurance should pay if you have some

You drill out the ignition lock cylinder, replace with new lock cylinder, have a lock smith or dealer program your new keys.
