ford ranger diesels!

I'd rock the first one in a heartbeat! The rest look too roundy to me, and I like the squarer look, more trucklike and less SUVish. The first new diesel ranger driveline (if it ever happens) that get's wrecked around here is getting gutted and put in my truck.

This was my Ranger as mentioned before. The 2.5TD is a great engine.

I don't think you can find many larger vehicles here that aren't diesel. I think it's just the American imports like my Explorer and Blazer that are petrol. I get asked all the time if they're diesel or not.

My friends have diesels for off roading and such. They just fit a raised air intake and then they can drive through water up to their windows.

Pass, I ain't getting tied into paying twice as much for fuel this summer as I as I will with my gas burner.

Modern US diesels have as much if not more stuff to go wrong than a gas engine to get thru emissions. And they will spit french fry juice back in your face... it has to be ultra low sulfer diesel.

You could get by with it on older ones, but the newer ones will not like you for it.

If a diesel 4 door Ranger (or just diesel ranger) were to come to the states it would be my next truck:icon_thumby:. As is though, my next truck would be a Nissan Frontier:sorrysign:.

I do care about the body as it already looks good and there's no need to make it look unrecognizable.

I dont see whats wrong with it, I like it. I would buy one if the need arose but my 04 is doing just fine.

that explorer looking car would sell like hotcakes here.

HI !
First post (comming over from FTE)

So when will the small diesels be comming over to the US?

Any idea on the mileage we could expect?
I'm hoping for 30 to 40 MPG Highway...

In addition to my Ranger I also have an '06 F-350 SD so I'm very comfortable with diesels (that plus my construction equipment!)

if ford does bring the diesel rangers over its prolly gunu be around 2011.

from what i understand the mileage is around 25.

should have bought a cummins! lol jk

I would buy a diesel ranger in a heartbeat as long as it's just not available ONLY in a 4-door. I would prefer a supercab with available manual transmission. Ford would have the market cornered in the U.S. They need to wake-up and smell the money and give the people what they want.

I would hope to see it closer to 30. A guy I work with has an 06 cummins Ram, 6 speed 4x4, mega cab. He averages 23mpg doing 65 on the highway. The cummins is a much larger engine moving a much larger, heavier vehicle. It would be extremely disappointing if a diesel Ranger could only best it by 2mpg.

25?? I get 26 MPG in my 2.3L gas ranger now
A small diesel should easily get 30+ mpg. Otherwise why buy one??

I'm currently getting between 15 (average) to 20 (highway) MPG in my '06 F-350SD and that thing weighs about 8500#

my parents excursion will get about 24-25 on the highway, thats with the 7.3 in it. buy a TD ranger will have to get about 35-40. A VW TDI now gets 58mpg for the 09-10 models. my 03 tdi beetle gets 40 with a auto in it. the technology is there, just have to get thru the governmental bs and i will be one of the first to owna diesel ranger!!!

I had a dream last night that there were new diesel Rangers. haha
