Ford Ranger Computer Chips and Performance Modules

Looking for alittle insight on this Performance Computer (or any I guess) I really don't know to much about them. The research I have done on the net doesn't really help, I have talk to the dealer ship where I got my truck and they don't seem to know much.
Questions:
1) does using a Performance Computer void any of the trucks manufacture warranty?
2) Why aren't trucks coming off the line with these better computer setting already there?
3) For $452 are these things really worth it?
4)There seems to be a lot more available for the F150 and other trucks then there is for the Ranger, am I missing something in my searches or is the Ranger not as popular as it seems?

I don't have one, I really can't say but I am thinking of one also.

They are suppose to be good and Ford doesn't install them to keep cost down, HP down and Ford probably is the chip manufacturer and they can sell then aftermarket and void warranties.
Oh ya, i do not know if the chip voids warranties.
