TRS Event Ford Ranger 40th Anniversary - Truck Nationals - Carlisle PA

The sales staff wants to sell what is on the lot. It’s less work for them and a quicker turn around on the sale. Not to mention it frees up the money the dealer has invested in what is sitting on the lot.

If they can get you to spend more money, all the better since it means a better commission on the sale.
If that's the case, get some Rangers and Mavericks on the DAMN lot and sale those too. I don't think they realize that for every one person that switches from their original idea to an F-150, another one walks away. They could be increasing overall sales by 50%.

Easier to talk people into bigger/fancier than vice versa.

More money for them in the upgrade too.

Great pics!

I can't believe how "normal" you guys look.

Here I was, thinking that a TRS crowd would look more like this:

Have enough fun for all of us; now Carry On!
Actually I brought plenty. My bud owns a craft brewery in Pittsburgh. @ericbphoto took about half of it home. :D

Right. I get that, but NOT everybody bites on the upgrade. When they leave the lot, that's a 0 % of a $50k sale that maybe could have been a $28k Maverick or a $35K Ranger.

It goes back to what Ford cares about and what makes the dealership the most money per sale.

Thus why the lot is full of F-150s.

You don’t think the dealership is there to serve the customer do you? They only do what they have to as a minimum if they want you to possibly come back. But that may be 4-5 years down the road, not what they will get tomorrow.

Thus why my last two new truck purchases were through a friend who works in the commercial section of the dealership. He’s used to ordering vehicles anyway. It puts food on his table. And I get the best deal he can give without either of us getting r@ped.

Reminds me of that scene in "the Incredibles" where he tries to help the lady file her insurance the right way, and gets yelled at by his boss, for doing his job.
They don't want large sale numbers, they want large F-150 sales numbers.

Meanwhile the Maverick is selling like hot cakes and every manufacturer in the business is considering getting back into the compact truck market.

Ordering for 2023’s closed in January and I don’t know if you can even order a 2024 yet. The big Ford dealer near my work where I got my truck has a crap-ton of Eff One Fiddys but I haven’t seen a Ranger or Maverick on their lot in six months. When I got my Ranger 2 1/2 years ago it was the only one they had.

Right now, that’s either Ford or Kia (or maybe Hyundai). The market is their’s for the killing. Ford doesn’t seem to care.

I don’t NEED a full size but moreover, a full size wouldn’t fit in my garage or even in my driveway.

It's a Hyundai. Also Toyota announced a possible corolla based truck, Dodge has the Rampage, a small Brazillian market truck, Nissan released design renders of a compact pick-up,

I don’t even need a mid-sized Ranger. If they would have made a small body on frame, 4X4 crew cab truck or a body on frame, 4X4 Explorer, I would have went that route. I was replacing a crossover SUV that didn’t meet my needs anymore. I didn’t really need another truck.

Not sure how ford is playing now but in cdjr world stock units are hard to get. Sold orders are only a couple months out and you can get exactly what you want.

Most of our sales are custom ordered.

Small and body on frame isn’t going to happen any more. You can get a Maverick Tremor now that sits higher and has a locking rear diff.
I had to borrow my son’s car for a few days last year when Mrs. O’s minivan was totaled. I remember looking up from his Subaru at my truck the wife was driving and thinking from down here it looks awful big for a mid-size truck.

Thus why I have a mid-size Ranger. It was that or a Tacoma.

We talked about that some at one point. Small, body on frame truck and SUVs can’t meet EPA requirements. So, they will likely never be made again.
