Got home at 5:15. Light rain the last half of the trip but not bad. Cruise on 75 to 80, averaged 22 mpg.
Made several extra pit stops as I was trying to pass a kidney stone. I think it's gone.
My takes:
I think it came off as a great success, especially for our first time being there as a group. Turnout was good and we recruited several new members.
Many people were impressed by TRS-2 and a few mentioned that they knew of it and couldn't believe they were seeing it in the flesh.
Not as many Rangers as the Ford Nationals though. The crowd skews younger and leans more toward Team Billet Super Dutys and Dodges although the semi-truck field was large and interesting to look at.
Show field for the most part was not broken down by make. More like "Stock 1968-72" and Modified 1968-72" etc. so there were Fords, Dodges, and Chevys all over the place.
Our point person with Carlisle Events, thin and blonde is never a bad thing, was a tremendous help and asked if we wanted the same spot next year, we said sure, and she took a group photo to be on the Carlisle Facebook page although I haven't found it yet.
Deer Run Campground was decent. Tip: Next year ask for a tent site with electric since they are level. The ones without electric are....not. It's about 9 miles from the Fairgrounds and a straight shot.
The steering wheel in TRS-2 is about 120 degrees off which made it interesting backing it into the space in the building. Carlisle Guy: "Straighten the wheel." Me: "Bro, I don't know where straight is."
