Hi guys I,m a newbie to this need some advice my 2.3 dohc engine has spun a big end bearing looking for parts or better a short block can,t seem to find any thing at a reasonable price woul it be cheaper to get a short block or refurb the motor it's a 2003 and D vin 8th letter if that makes any difference. Spike

Wow, what did you do? (cheap oil, over revving?)
Personally I would re-build what you have, always nice to know exactly what you've got and you have the option of doing some 'upgrades' (cam, porting, etc :icon_thumby:)

My 02 2.3 has bad bearings ( great oil pressure cold , drops to 5 psi at idle when warmed up w 10/30 oil) getting by with 10/40 oil. Ford has nothing for a crank kit or short block anymore , but mazda dealers have plenty of B2300 factory rebuilt short blocks around $1,000. Wrecking yards have nothing but junk for the older '01-03 2.3 duratec.
