Ford Gauges

[Texas Danger Ranger]

I need some help guys and gals. Please!? This ranger is about to make me dive to the mountains find a cliff and roll this truck off of it. Have the Ford Ranger Gauges always been P.O.S.? Especially the fuel gauge, I had to replace all of almost all of the illumination lights in the dash board. All the Gauges were was working proir to pulling the instrument cluster to change out the bulbs. When I put the instument cluster back in the dash the fuel guage is now "not" working. This truck gets bad milage as it is and running out of fuel is not appealing. I know I could keep track of the milage but a working gas gauge is what I need. Has any one out there had this problem?
Does any one make after market gauges that replace the stock ones that are dependable including a gas gauge?
