The one Ranger (2011) I'm looking at has the Ford worn off the front grill and off the tailgate. Completely silver.

Its an eyesore to me.

What causes this?

Is it easily replaced?

Really common in that era of Ford, the paint didn't stick to the chrome.

Either a surface prep problem, a paint problem or both.

No idea on the ease of replacement. If I had to guess the rear is held on by double sided tape. Front oval may be bolted on (mine is)

Yup, common issue... I took them off and painted them flat black with pasti-dip. While not as good looking as a brand new one it looks much better than bare "chrome".

This is right after being painted and obviously the front, when it dried it was the same matte finish as the grill.

Thanks guys. I like seeing the Ford. I'm a stickler for keeping it original as best I can. I mean, how else will anybody know its a Ford?;)

Those emblems are all over amazon for dirt cheap, and in this case buying a cheap knockoff and not an OEM ford part is probably actually better. You already know the OEM ford one sucks. :icon_rofl:

I bought a f150 one that has the camera in it but it didnt fit right or look right so i went with paint. One day ill get new ones.

Easily fixed. I would scuff up the shiny oval part. Use some ford blue paint w/thinner, using a small syringe or turkey baster and drip the paint into it so it doesn't get on the "FORD".

I tried this. The lettering is not raised much and is "feathered" so its really hard. I gave up after two tries lol.

Have a friend make you some vinyl oval stickers.

Never done it to a FORD emblem, works pretty good on the Nissan.

I always wanted to put chevy bowties on my ford emblems... just to confuse people. My old chevy g20 van had ford emblems.

There are other visual/audible effects that let people know it's a Ranger...

The sound or site of one rear tire locking up.

The site of a little truck carrying and/or pulling way more then it should.

The site of one or both rear spring hangers broken.

There are more... but you get the idea.

Not a Batman fan, but I'm sure I could come up with something. I know a place that does custom stuff like this.

Has been done before.

Might try LMC Truck for Ford ones, like mentioned earlier I wouldn't go out of my way for factory Ford ones.

The side "Ranger" badges will lose the black too.
