ford and nissan merger?

nissan may have faster cars and all the other crap, but the titans are shit. i know atleast 10 people that have had so many problems with there titans they switched to ford, chevy or dodges. not to mention the frontier was rated the lowest of all the trucks on the market. i also hate seeing these damn imports driving around. maybe if people stopped buying the foreign vehicles our American car companys wouldnt be in such a bind. if ford merged with toyota that would be a plus. the dodge ram ( weather you ford people like it or not) is rated the best pickup on the market, next in line toyota. ford might have a chance if they would keep there engines small and build them with power. look at the 4.0 what is it like 150hp. i had a chrysler with a 3.5 that had twin throttle bodys and had 280 hp. damn car was fast as hell. if ford built there engines for the rangers with way more power it wouldnt take so much pedal to keep it at 70, thus increasing the mpg. thats why i am selling my ranger, i have over 6k in the truck but my dodge diesel gets 22mpg and has 4x the power. im sure i would keep my ranger if it at least got 18 but 14 sucks balls for a small ass truck.

btw trucks arnt dieing just the gas engines. diesel is the wave of the future.

looking around on the internet i only found that dodge and nissan were going to work together to re-design the titan.

i have to give it to nissan with the 350z. if americans wernt so boner happy with gas hog v-8s camaros and challengers wouldnt be such a bad car to have.

ford just needs Japanese engineers to design our chassis and engines. seems to me we cant.

I really hope this induces someone to learn how publicly traded companies work. Those foreign cars are being built here as well. As far as "profits going to Japan", which someone is bound to say, these are publicly traded companies so every carmakers profit goes everywhere.

But maybe, just maybe, if the big 3 had not screwed people over and over again with subpar quality and general crap they wouldn't have lost the marketshare to the imports? Noooooo. It couldn't possibly be an American Carmakers fault, it must have been the liberals. :D

Oh, could you please tell the dealers that the truck market isn't dying? They seem to think it is given the tanking sales of trucks.

Actually, the new Taurus, Fusion and Fiesta are pretty nice looking cars. They should be, Ford took out a loan against everything they own including the rights to blue oval logo to completely redesign their car lineup.

DUDE WTF?????? are you saying the fiesta is a good looking car? are you smoking crack?

It has a neat sleek look to it. I saw a prototype and the Mid-American autoshow and they are not a bad looking car.

I wouldn't get one (I think I would wear it like a shirt) but it looks 100x better than the old Fiesta.

not saying its not the car makes fault. it is, that's why they need the bailouts. the ceo and top managers of all these falling car companys should have been kicked out the door long ago. if they knew what the hell they were doing this wouldnt be happening.

the reason the truck market isnt at its sales is because people are finally getting tired of the ****n 10mpg. thats why ford and dodge have diesels coming for the 1/2 ton trucks. also lots of automakers are trying to bring diesels into cars, hence the gas motors dieing. but as always the epa says we need to get more fuel efficient cars and trucks but were going to set the standards so ****n high your gunu quit before you start. i say **** the epa with diesels and blu-tec, just make it illegal to have the smoke effect systems on street driven trucks. i hate bein by that big fat ass redneck and his lifted diesel chevy when they give it gas and it blows black soot out. that just loads the air with shit i dont want to breath.

Compared to Toyota's or Nissan's equivalent, it is. And the Taurus looks better than the Camry and Maxima and the Mustang looks much better than the Z. Name a Nissan or Toyota that looks better than a Ford equivalent.

I would not mind this at all... Before I got my ranger and scooby, I almost bought an 03 quad cab frontier... I still love those trucks and I would actually pry trade my ranger for one. Hmmm... think of a 4 door ranger... I think it would be more of a possibility if they were merged with nissans.

Agree'd the new Fiesta is quite a nice looking little car. See a few of em runnin about here in the UK.

Ford really needs to sell its Turbo Diesel Focus over here. Diesel cars get unreal gas mileage, the TDi Ford Focus gets about 65mpg on the highway, the best mileage a Focus gets in the US is like 35mpg. WHY don't they sell that in the states!? With people being all economical these days, a non-hybrid car that got 65MPG would be a huge hit in my opinion.

And as much as I like Ford products, the Jap's do not make crap cars. I think Ford produces some of the best cars out of the big 3, but they're only now even coming close the the quality of the Jap stuff. I would probably buy a new Ford truck, but if I was looking to buy another passenger car It'd be Jap. I know most of you may not agree, but they're ahead technology and quality wise with the American stuff.

Last American car we had was a Mercury Sable wagon, fully loaded with all the options. Had lots of electrical problems with it. Owned it for about 2 years and my mom totaled it. Went out and bought a new Honda Odyssey van to replace it, had the 240hp 3.5L V6, and that van would flat out FLY!! Honda had a couple transmissions on those vans drop a gear because of a poorly places lubrication passage, and they called us up one day and said bring your van into our dealership within the next month and we'll replace the transmission free of charge. We never had problems with it, but Honda did it just because they back their products! We brought it in one day and had it back the next.

That said, my dad LOVED his 86 Ranger. Put like 300k miles on the ol' 4 cylinder, and then we threw a new one in and kept on driving it. That truck did whatever we asked it to do and more.

So yea, you can't go saying Jap is crap, I'm not saying Ford is crap either, but the Japanese make great cars and they back them like they should. My grandpa got my grandmother a new Lexus LS460 back in 08 and I drove it a couple times, car was heavenly! It was soo quiet, comfortable, smooth, powerful, I could go on and on about it. Never driven anything of that kind of quality. My grandfather had a Bentley which he let me drive right before that, and I got straight out of that Bentley and into the Lexus for the first time and I would take the Lexus over it any day.

So anyway, enough of my ranting and raving about Jap cars vs American, but the Jap do make good cars and decent enough trucks. Ford is almost there, but the other American manufacturers really need to step up their game in order to stay competitive.

I've personally never owned a Nissan but they're OK cars in my opinion. I would probably rather that Ford stay as it is as long as they can easily survive on their own, but if worse comes to worst then Nissan certainly wouldn't be the worst manufacturer to buy up Ford! A V8 350z would be pretty cool, however when Nissan is getting the same amount of power out of their V6's in some cases as Ford is out of their V8's, then there wouldn't be much point. I think it would be cool if they could develop a new V8 with variable valve timing and all that! Keep the old push-rod motors alive, but catch up with the cars of today and get us some VVT!

That's just my opinion. No disrespect meant to anyone else, take it or leave it! :D

I thought Ford scrapped, or at least put on hold, the diesel for the F-150. Wasn't it originally supposed to be available for the 09's?

I think everybody pulled the plug on them.

Last time I talked to the guys at the dealer group I worked at they had not heard anything from Ford about a diesel option. Not saying it may not be in the works but they just had a seminar on the new F-150's and heard nothing about diesel.

The plan was to modify a Land Rover diesel to go in the F-150.

What ford should do is give us a ranger with a v-8 and diesel option + Dana 60's front and rear.I know its far fetched but answer me this ............would it sell?

IMO...if ford merges with nissan would be the best thing they could EVER do...outstanding technology, engine life, and durability...as far as everyone talking trash about nissan's own one yourself and your opinion will change...i had many

'94 pathfinder-retarded offroad machine with stock suspension and 31's, plenty of ground clearence...sick air time...not sure of hp but was a 3.0L 6 cyl

'02 supercharged frontier-awsome powerband, roll on the throttle at 30mph and still smoke the tires, serious off road fun at stock hight and 33's...240hp 3.5L 6cyl

'05 nismo edition frontier-hooked chains with my dads o5 ranger and dragged it down the street-LOL-and then with my buddies 00 f150 and had the same results...this thing flew 4" suspension w/37's, 290hp 4.0L DOHC 6cyl

my old race car would walk a mustang, camero, vette...360whp turbo 4 wacker... stock 2.0L dohc sr20de(us version) with a turbonetics t3/t4 60 trim, all stuffed into a little 95 nissan 200sx se-r(the cursed white jelly bean)

my current project dynoed 470whp with my old set up on a stock JDM pulsar GTiR sr20det(t+turbo from factory) wich is also a 2.0L dohc...canned the OEM T28 turbo, cast manifold, and top mount intercooler...tossed on a garrett t3/60-1, cams, head studs, precision intercooler...this is in my current 95 nissan 200sx se-r(only got this one because it does not have a sunroof and my old one did)---now its a whole new ball game with the new set up

so to each his own...but nissan is one awsome auto maufacturer...i got ride of my 05 frontier cause i was sick of the gas bill every month cause i couldn't keep my foot out of it after the lift, 35's, exhaust and stuff

i now have a 93 ranger with 160k...trans is junk, engine is tired and needs replacement...my first se-r had 200k on it and i used to throw 100shot juice threw it at everychance i had

titans are good just that the problems surfaced in the first year of production just like all first year cars...rangers are awsome too, especially the new ones...my father had a 82 ranger with a 2.8L auto, drove it for 13 years before he traded it for another one...i plan on swapping a good motor trans into the ranger and lifting it 6" and tossing on a set of 35's

forgot ford pulled the plug on the diesel for the 150. it was to come out in 2010 but the lack of funds caused the program to be put on hold for awhile.

most people think the ford transmissions are shit. if you think that, your wrong. ford transmissions are great .... if you move the cat back to the output shaft or more. that keeps the damn heat from crystallizing the servos and causing them to go out at 60k miles. works great. thats a must for anyone that has the cat next to the trans( hint hint explorer people).

chapnutz_#1- if you want a nice sports car get a 89-92 toyota supra stick turbo. it takes about 1500 dollars to get it to 600 hp from 200. and a suspension kit makes them the best bang for the buck. did it with my toyota, and your right not a vehicle in my town could run with me ( street legal vehicles) well i take that back my buddys 03 dodge creeped by. the corvettes, mustangs and 350z never could keep up. im not blowin nothin up yer arrses eather. 135 1/4 mile and went to 183 maxed
