hey guys i came across a complete ford 9inch for around 350 bucks i think it is a good deal it is and open diff and has 4.11s but now im thinking about makeing a ford nine ich a front axle what do you guys think about that idea? to me it seems like it would be sick but not sure how hard it is to do

Make sure it's not a 28 spline. Damn 28 spline 9 inches are no bigger than 7.5 axle shafts. You'll be throwing a lot of money into it trying to swap to bigger spline axles. Basically everything will need to be swapped except the housing.

not that easy. 28 spline is one factor. i busted alot of 28 spline shafts....a 9 in will take 10 shaft murderings before the side gears or spiders explode....sometimes a 7.5 will only handle none..no shaft murderings.....all the other shit fails first:shok:

I dunno about the price of scrap down there, for for $350 id want the full truck. i bought a spare d44 and 9" for my 79 for $50

This! They arent quite that cheap around here but usually $100 wikk get you a complete working 9" and if you're lucky it'll already be 31 spline big patturn, and ocasionally you can find tgem with disc brakes already on em.

Its alot of work and $ but still a fairly popular swap. (shorten tubes, get custom shafts, etc.)

You won't need custom shafts depending on what width you build it to. I had mine built to take stock Chev D60 shafts.
