Ford 1987 to 1993 computer needed

I screwed up and need a mass air auto trans computer. I am thinking about locating a VIN number for a Ford mustang V8 of the proper year so I can order one from one of the companiess that sells them. I fried mine by using a speed trany O2 sensor cable with a automatic computer. Would this work? Ford used to sell stand alone computers.

Assuming EEC-IV 60-wire is the computer generation you want

On the EEC-IV you should change the 3 capacitors before installing if they are original, they WILL leak after 20 years, an under $5 fix
