Fog lights come on after ignition turned off -- not kidding...

Reviving this thread to see if the collective wisdom has any ideas:
2011 XLT 2WD 4.0L w/ factory fog lights.
I have the exact same symptoms as the OP. Ignition off, headlight switch off…and fog lights either stay on, or mysteriously come on later while truck is in garage untouched.
I pulled the 48B relay a few weeks ago until I had the chance to troubleshoot.
Yesterday - replaced the relay and initially all seemed back to normal at all headlight switch positions…so I left it like that to see. Came out this morning and fog lights were ON. I pulled panel at left end of dash, wiggled wires, disconnected plug, etc. and discovered that by pushing on light switch (as if pushing it forward thru the dash) I could get fog lights to cycle ON/OFF. Aha! Switch must me coming apart internally, right? I left switch alone (assembled) and at this point fog lights were OFF…came in to research w/ Lord Google a new switch (to no avail…out of stock everywhere and $200+).
So, went back out to garage and lights were again ON; disconnected plug from back of switch and the fog lights remained ON (serious head scratching now; with switch completely disconnected and lights ON it sure can’t be the switch, eh?). Now with it in this condition, pushing on the switch from the front, or even the edge of the dashboard assembly, or downward from the top of dash, the fog lights went out. No amount of wiggling or tugging on the headlight switch wire bundle caused lights to extinguish. Only pressure applied to the left end of the dashboard (even while headlight switch connector was disconnected!) would cause fog lights to extinguish.
WTF???

Any ideas before I start disassembling the dash?

Inspect the headlamp switch connector really good.

Wouldn't be the first one I saw that was burned up.

That I have done. The connector looks perfect and the wires look perfect.
Perhaps you missed my explanation above…where the Fog Lights were ON when the connector was disconnected…and at that point I was able to make the lights extinguish by pushing firmly on the left edge or left/top of the dashboard.
Thanks for responding.

Tracked it down to a wire bundle forward of the headlight switch about 8 inches. It’s where the switch wires go into a larger bundle of wires…accessible via the left end dashboard panel. Poking that wire bundle consistently activates the fog light relay…but alas that means disassembly of the dashboard to access and track down where the actual short is located. So the relay will stay out for now until I have an entire day or two without need for the truck.
