My credo
Work hard and play harder
I was thinking about getting myself an early Christmas present. Why not a FN SCAR-L or H. L is for lite 5.56 and H is for 7.62x51. Weight in with your opinions. I already have an AR so I really do not want another one. AR pistol maybe but I think a SCAR would just simply be bad ass.

SCARs are badass, if you can afford one. You could buy several nice firearms for the same price...but if you are set on one and looking to choose a caliber, then it boils down to what do you plan on using it for?

Opinions on caliber or whether or not to "pull the trigger" so to speak?

Varmit/punching holes in paper 5.56, hunting bigger stuff I would go with the 7.62.

That is my biggest hangup on getting a "modern sporting rifle"... they suck for hunting unless you spend a grand or better for a oddball one that isn't 5.56. I can hunt a coyote with it but they are not good enough eating to justify it IMO. I know you can kill a deer with a .223/5.56 but in Iowa it is illegal to hunt deer with so that slants my on it...

Don't know 'nuthing about that particular gun though. :dntknw:

i would love to have one. my local gun store has them, but they start at $3k, out of my price range right now lol. i'd get an H if i were you. like you said, you have an AR, so why get another 556 gun.

I would look at as cheaper to shoot and a simpler ammo inventory... but if a $3k gun is in consideration whats a couple more bucks a box for ammo?

5.56 is perfect for zombies. A lot lighter so you can carry more. I just don't care for larger calibers unless it is for specific hunting or 500 yd plus plinking. No reason to get a scar for long range though.

.223....any thing I can see..goes down! :headbang:

....:D

Scar is the perfect weapon for zombies. Wonderful up close, decent at medium range, and workable across the new food court at the mall, or across a fair-ground stadium if you kneel down.

I like the way you think. :icon_thumby:

First off...SCAR-L and SCAR-H are the full auto military variants.

Civilian models are the SCAR16 (5.56) and SCAR17 (.308)

I would definitely go for the .308, you said you already have an AR. Presumably a 5.56 like most. You never know when you need to reach out and touch something. And even close range...if a horde is advancing a 308 is going to punch through multiple targets with a $hit load more power.

In short.. it clears the escape path better. Lol

Then...if your heart still desires some other 5.56...you can get an ACR. then you'd be purring like a kitten
