I recently bought an 85 ranger 4x4 with a 2.8 v6 and the fm145 tranny. When i Bought it the clutch was out so we went through all the trouble to replace the clutch but now it makes a LOT of noise in neutral plus i didn't know that i should've replaced the rear main seal when i did the clutch. anyways, now I'm looking for options. I've heard the m50d r1 is the strongest transmissions for these trucks so I'm wondering how hard it will be to swap one in. Also I'm really wondering if its really worth my time and effort or should i just get another fm145? I really like this truck and I've put a lot of time and effort into this truck already so i don't want to just give up quite yet.
