ok, ive been crunching on all of this in my head for awhile. ive read all the tech in the library. i know that there will be some pretty "common sense" questions in this post, but im just making sure that MY common sense is actually considered COMMON:icon_thumby:.

i pulled the t-case and FM-145 today and got everything ready for the M5OD that i will be picking up later this morning :D

i know i need to keep the flywheel, bellhousing, pilot bearing, throughout bearing, clutch release mechanism(s), flexplate, torque converter from the FM-145

this is the noob questions, and i know the answer, but i just want some back up on the answer.

i also keep my slave? and my clutch for my 2.9l will work on the 4.0's transmission? crossmember will stay in the stock location? and my transmission will mount to the crossmember the same (so ill still be able to use my "ghettoFab" tranny lift)?

thanks to all in advance, just double checking before i fork over the $$ and realize i forgot something.

Trans X member will need to be moved about 2-3 inches back

Your FM145 internal or external slave? maybe only the TK's had external slave:icon_confused:

is your pilot bearing in the crank or the flywheel?

you dont have a flex plate or a torque converter so you wont need either. you will need a pressure plate and a flywheel with a ring gear that has healthy teeth.

its internal, just kinda bummed about the slave and stuff. i didnt think it was gonna be able to transfer, but i had hope. i just did a clutch job and replaced the slave about 1200 miles ago...

im currently taking the 145 apart to see if its rebuildable. but im still looking for a m5od, none of the 7 yards i went to had anything for a ranger or xploder.

anyone got a decent m5od that they would be willing to let go of? ill cover shipping!

thanks, kolton

Yes, the slave cylinder is different as is the release bearing.

You will also need to replace the clutch LINE that connects the master to the slave, that is completely different.

The master cylinder itself is the same.

The clutch line you need is one for a 1988-92
(in 1993 they changed it again)
