dropped the 4.0 into the B II last night, now trying to get the trans in. went to put the flywheel on, and the bolts are too short. I have the bolts from the donor for the trans, but they are too short.
I looked at the crank from the trans donor, and it has threads all the way to the flange surface. the crank in the engine im using doesn't.
also, the centering register seems to be larger on the engine im not using.
both are 91 explorer engines, the engine im using is from a 2wd w/auto, im using the m5od from a 4wd.
i am wondering if the auto and manual cranks are different
i hope ive given enough info

Did you remove the flexplate spacer?

There is a spacer on the back of the crank thats only used on the auto flexplate, not the manual flywheel.

what would happen if you didn't take that out? I just swapped a four oh from an auto explorer into my ranger. I have the M5OD and it's running rough. I changed the flywheel and all that stuff out.

The trans wouldnt bolt up.

Alright. Well that part must have fallen out on mine or something then. haha. Thanks for the help.

Yep! That was it! It didn't even look like a spacer!
If I knew how to post a pic on here I would show the others what it looks like!
