flywheel came loose?

i put a brand new flywheel, and clutch in my truck and i hit the rev limiter and the motor started making a loud tapping noise. i got a mile or two and the timing belt ripped. so i pulled the motor and took off the tranny and discovered that the flywheel was loose. i had the bolts very tight but i didnt use a torque wrench. now my clutch wasnt working either and i found that the bolts on the flywheel loosened so much that they were hitting the clutch plate and that must have been the squeling noise i heard. now i had blue locktite on the flywheel bolts. why did the bolts come loose? i am planning on using a torque wrench and torquing them to about 62 ft lbs, i am also going to use the red locktite.

What are the suppose to be torqed to? 62 ft lbs might not be enough

Check to see if maybe they got stripped while you put them in. Just one a little miss threaded could have help the others work there way out.
 
yes i had this happen on my toyato previa van on a trip to chicago and had to pull the trans in the parkinglot of a holidayinn in 20degree weather and drill out 9 of the ten bolts which had broken off in the crank. i had replaced the clutch and had the flywheel machined about 6 months before and i didnt use locktight on the bolts NEVER AGAIN i always use locktight on them now
 
So is this what the problem was where everyone was telling you that you needed a new motor?

yea that is the problem as far as i know but im still stumped on what was making the loud tapping vibration. i took the head and oil pan off and everything looks fine, the one piston makes a quiet grind noise when it goes up and down, i have another motor on hand that has less miles on it so im just gonna play it safe and use it, now it had an auto tranny on it, so as far as i know the motors are the same, they look identical, is this correct? they are both 2.3L motors, one is a 1990 and one is a 1989. so if i take off the flywheel and torque converter i will have to change pilot bearings but the clutch and manual tranny and flywheel should go on know problem, is this correct?
