i just took my flywheel out, i sheared it around the bolts...this is second time ive busted a flywheel...anyone know where i can get a stronger one? are there any stronger ones? if not wheres a good place to just find another one?

There is something wrong if you keep shearing flex plates. Before you put the new one on check the flex plate and spacer hub carefully for small cracks. Check the crank flange for nicks and/or foreign matter. Check the crank bolt threads for damage and make sure they are the original style bolts.

When reinstalling, torque bolts in a criss cross pattern in three stages ending with a torque wrench to factory specs. Use blue medium thread locker to eliminate the possibility of the bolts backing out due to vibration. Make sure all the trans to engine bolts are installed and are the correct style, length, and are torqued properly. Check that the threads they screw into are not stripped.

You might have just been unlucky and got some cracked parts, but it's more likely that one of the items mentioned above caused the problem.Good luck.:icon_cheers:

il check it out, i dont know what caused it to shear....but i do know that im putting a lot of torque on it, but not ridiculous amounts, its a stock motor, and im running 4.56 gears with 33s...i was bogging it up a hill in 2wd n hoppin back end, and it just sheared...maybe its just the weakpoint? i knew right away what happened...so, i ripped it out and there are shears extending out around every bolt....so, it couldnt have been an oblong shear, seems pretty even, but because of the made in mexico stamp i found on it, im guessing it was just a cheap metal...its all i got to go on. it was well torqued, and from what i remember torqued to factory specs...there was locktight also. the bolts look good, but il give them another chek...i was thinking of some kind of washer or something to help absorb vibration maybe?
