Had some good weather so I decided to burn a little avgas. I live in paradise! This is flying up the Kashwitna Glacier to Mt. Foraker, 17,400'. Denali or Mt. McKinley to the rest of you is off to the right.
Here is a link to the rest of the photos if you are interested.

Except for the fact its hella cold and expensive to live, dollar more per gallon of gas and we produce the stuff.:icon_confused:

Do you have your pilots licence and all that? Thats pretty sweet cause I have only ever been in heli's.

Yup. Private pilot and Maule driver. I've never been in a helicopter. We need to trade!

It makes a pretty picture, but it's not inviting to me. I don't like things to go lower than 25F. Down to 25F I do fine. Southern Indiana is a good mix of seasons. I might go a little further south but then people start taking on funny accents. Alaska is out of the question. Staring out from the little furlined butthole of a blue parka ain't for me.

I'm jealous. I haven't flown a tail dragger in quite some time. Everything I've heard the Maule is one hell of a nice plane. Good short field performance, nice climb rate and decent useful load. It just look a little cold in there for me.

If your in the lower 48 and need your B.F.R. give me a call. My CFI is still current.

im a cold weather person so it might be pretty cool to live there. any place where i can play hockey outdoors is the place for me haha

mmmmmmm, Maule. :icon_thumby: I sure hope to be able to get one when I move back to Idaho. You've got to take a trip down there and check out some back country strips, you'll love 'em. Great shots BTW!

I don' tactually have a heli... but I really want to get a licence and one maybe to do the glacier tours and stuff. I actually used to ride with my dad out to his work sites (he doesn't fly either though) cause he worked for the airport in juneau. In homer there is no need for heli's.

I have a twin exhaust in the plane. That gives me two heaters. It was mid teens when those shots were taken, a little lower at altitude. I had to shut one of the heaters down and open all the vents to stay cool!

I'd like to fly Idaho. I've seen some great shots from some of those little mountain strips!!

The first picture gave me a chill. I'm going to go out to my truck, sitting in the parking lot with the windows down so the seats won't be too hot, and drive home. I'll probably work in the drivewayfor a while and let the sun get that chill out of my mind. Everyone has their own thing, but it's just over 75 degrees here today. . . and that's the way I like it.

that is beautiful!!!! ive been wishing i could get up to alaska and find a decent job, but for now im just flying in the gulf of mexico for the oil platforms. I would trade in a heartbeat. Just need to get my fixedwing rating........ one day.
