flex plate question

Im getting ready to install my transmission after my 3.0 engine swap and left the crank to flexplate bolts loose. The flexplate was held on with 6 bolts and a washer that was marked #3 with the old engine. The replacement engine had the same setup but the large washer is marked #1. The one marked 3 is thicker. My question is. Should I install the flexplate and washer that came with the new motor #1 or stay with the one that came with my trans#3? I don't see it being used as a spacer because it wouldn't effect anything being bolted to the outside of the flexplate. Does it control how much the plate flexes? Im working on a 1998 4x4 xlt 4r44e. I could use all the help I can get. First time messing with anything like this.

The flex plate doesn't actually flex.

It may be for engine balance. Either way, I wouldn't touch it.

. Put it back together as you stated and everything is good. Thanks for all the help. Now I think I can clean the oil and grease off this keyboard.
