Does anyone make a tool box (truck box for the bed) for a short bed flare side (step side) Ranger? Thats not $400 bucks. Been look'in for a year now. I saw one on a flare side last week, but I didn't get to talk to the guy so I don't know if he altered anything or where he got it. :dunno:
thanx for any suggestions

Well, DeeZee makes one thats about 300... but otherwise its really hard to find toolboxes for flaresides... check craigslist, thats about your best bet.

Yeah thanx. I'll try that. I dont see what the big deal is. The bed is a little more narrow and there is alot of step sides on the road. They make hard bed cover. I don't get it. :dunno:

I just put a tonneau on mine but till I did that I had a box I got at Wally World. I don't remember the name but it is a nice fit for the bed width, has a slightly rounded top with a diamond plate pattern molded into it. Basically the lid will stick up above the height of the bed. The cost was about $45.00 when I got mine, I know they still carry them. All I did was drill a hole in either end of the box's hand holds and anchored to the bed tie downs with a couple of small turnbuckles. I served me well for hauling tools, floor jack, etc. The only reason I didn't leave it in was it wouldn't fit under the tonneau!

Well you know, you'd think that since they're using less material it would be cheaper, but since its a less common item, nope! Honestly, I would use self tapping screws, and screw the toolbox into your bed, if you can, drill pilot holes in the toolbox first and place some rubber washers under the box so water can't get into the hole you drilled, then take some silicon and put a good bead around the head of the screws in the box...

I thought about one of those little boxes ..but I thought it would look cheesy. And then you gotta mount it. I thought I had found one at Pep Boys for $179 but they only fit straight beds. (about 10 inches too wide) This is my first Ranger, I've allways owned F-150's. Never thought you couldn't even find a truck box. :annoyed: Geeez...all I want is to carry some tools in the bed.

That's what I'm talk'in about. price sucks...but what are you gonna do? At least now I Know they exist. That box looks good on yours Topher. I.m gonna poke around on line and look at some of the shops around town. Black diamond plate on my black 4x4 would be sweet! :headbang:
thanx for the pics & info!

lol, that's not my truck. That's just a thread I found while I was googling around for you. My truck is blue with a standard box. Anyway you're welcome for the info, I agree the truck in the thread looks sweet. :icon_thumby:
