New to the TRS just trying to acclimate myself. I have a 2000 ranger xlt 2wd 4.0L want to swap w/a 5.oL .what I want to know is.... will my original rear axle be sufficient enough for the 5.0. Or will I have to use the Explorer rear end. Also do I have to swap the whole drive train or is the stock drive ccompatible. ...

Welcome! First you ought to check out the great tech library up top for all kinds of good info. You swap well documented and done a lot, one of the best years to swap. Being as you have a 4.0L, you will have the 8.8 rear end that is plenty strong. Best donor would be a '99-2001' Explorer and the engine/battery harness and computer. You will need a transmission made for a 5.0, either auto or manual. The posted link is based on a 4x4 but your swap similar. Lots of other little things need to be addressed but those will follow. You'll have questions that can easily be answered down in the V-8 swap section.
