Hey guys, I'm Don I bought an 03 3L Ford ranger edge a few months ago making me new to the forum and to Ford. This is my first truck and have previously never driven a Ford other than my mothers escape. My first question is : Why do I have so many cats/resignators? Where i'm from you're required by law to have a cat and a muffler but aren't required to pass any e-testing. I'm wondering how much restriction I can eliminate from my exhaust system by removing all of these but one? Or if that could have any negative effects. Being as it is a 3.0 i'm not looking to gain too much just a little better flow and a little nicer sound. Currently i'm considering cutting it off at the first cat and running same diameter pipe that goes in from the manifold straight back to where the stock exhaust would be. Good/bad? Pros/cons? Ideally without losing any torque, or better yet gaining torque, as this is a work truck. I hope I've enough detail to make sense.
Thanks in advance,
Don
